The Wilderness Road was a westward path that led to Kentucky, which was established by Daniel Boone. It was considered as one of the main routes by settlers who decided to go to the west during the late 1700 and 1800s. This road crosses a natural opening through the Appalachians known as the Cumberland Gap.
