4^2 is 16 because you don't add 4+2 you have to multiply 4x4 to equal 16

4^2 = 4x4 /\ 16 I think this is the diagram. The answer will be 16 because 4 to the second power is like 4 x 4 (four times four). If they asked you ehat is 4 to the third, it will be 4x4x4 which equals 64. Answer= 16
