People settled on New Netherlands in 1614, and it became part of the Dutch Republic in
1924
.
Also, interesting fact, New Netherlands is now known as New York.
Hope that helped :)

The New Netherlands ( a Dutch Colony in America with the Capital in New Amsterdam) dates back to 1614, when it was established. In the beginning it was a very small colony, and it was settled only slowly, but in 1650 it experienced a major growth.
