The Soviet Union and the United States nearly went to war with each other in 1962 when the United States discovered Soviet missiles on the island of Cuba. This event, called the Cuban Missile Crisis, was resolved peacefully after several days of negotiations between U.S. and Soviet leaders.

A microhistorical approach to the Cuban Missile Crisis might study:

A. a single day of the crisis that fits into a pattern of bigger problems between the two countries.
B. the geographic features and location of Cuba that affected where the Soviet Union placed missiles.
C. the life of one person who was briefly involved in the negotiations that ended the crisis.
D. cultural differences between the United States and the Soviet Union that contributed to the crisis.

A microhistorical approach to the Cuban Missile Crisis might study "A. a single day of the crisis that fits into a pattern of bigger problems between the two countries", since micro history by definition usually spans a single, important day at most if dealing with a period of time.
