8x - 2y = 48 equals x = 7.

First,
make sure to add in your 4 in replace of the y. Multiply 2 x 4 to get 8. Your problem should look like: 8x - 8 = 48.
Second, add 8 to both sides. Your problem should look like: 8x = 48 + 8.
Third, add 48 + 8 to get 56. Your problem should look like: 8x = 56.
Fourth, divide both sides by 8. Your problem should look like: x =
(56)/(8).
Fifth,simplify
(56)/(8) to get 7. Your problem should look like: x = 7, which is your answer.

8x - 2y = 48, y =4

8x - 2(4) = 48
8x - 8 = 48
8x = 48+8
8x = 56
x = 56/8 = 7

x = 7
