The US Presidential election of 1964 where Democrat Lyndon Johnson won a landslide victory over Barry Goldwater.
This is considered one of the largest landslides in the United States history. The election, which is a precedent to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, carried Johnsons' advocacy which earned him a lopsided victory over Republican Senator Barry. His plans of extending more social welfare programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and War on poverty were heeded by the public against the Republicans plans of abolishing the Social Security System.
