The variable Z is directly proportional to X, and inversely proportional to Y. When X is 3 and Y is 14, Z has the value 3.8571428571429.

To determine the z in this proportional equation. We used first understand the formula and equation by understanding the relationships between z, x and y then we apply the values or numbers and undergo the process of finding the asked unknown value.
1. Since z is directly proportional to x and inversely proportional with Y. we have the equation set as: Z = X / Y
2. Hence if the given values of X = 12, and Y = 23. Then apply the values in the formula we have:
a. Z = X / Y
b. Z = 12 / 23
c. Z = 0.522
