To find this, divide 19 by 45.  This will give you 0.42 (with 2 repeating).  Now, you want to look  at the number in the thousandth and ten thousandth place.  Since 2 is less than 5, round the other 2 down  His batting average is 0.422 (pretty good).

Answer: 0.422

Explanation:

We know that the batting average is calculated by the formula below:

\text{Batting Average}=\frac{\text{Number of hits }}{\text{Number of bats}}

Given : Out of 45 times at bat, Raul got 19 hits.

i.e. Number of hits=19

Number of bats= 45

Substitute the values in the formula , we get

\text{Batting Average}=(19)/(45)=0.422222222222\\\\\approx0.422\text{ Rounded o the nearest thousandth}

Hence, Raul's batting average= 0.422
