by 146 B.C Rome had the following areas: Spain, Italian mainland plus Italian islands (Sardinia, Sicily), Corsica, Balearic Islands, Illyria, Dalmatia and Macedonia (today's Balkans and part of Greece) and Carthage on the coast of Africa.
