2x+3=3x-4
try to isolate the x term
you must do the same thing to both sides or else it won't be equal anymore

2x+3=3x-4
add 4 to both sides
2x+3+4=3x+4-4
2x+7=3x+0
subtract 2x from both sides
2x-2x+7=3x-2x
0+7=x
7=x

the answer is x=7
