Which view of literature does this statement represent? The classics are too removed and too distant for modern readers.

Progressive
Compromise

B. Progressive

This statement is representative of progressive thinking because it serves to not even consider the feasibility and validity of the classics as literature. If it had considered that the classics could possibly be seen as potentially acceptable by modern readers, then it could be seen to be making a compromise. A traditional statement would have spoken against modern literature and supported only the classics.

This statement would be representing a "progressive" view of literature, since it is dismissing the old works and irrelevant and outdated. This is also true or a progressive attitude in politics, in that Progressives believe old policies do not work.
