The answer is 20.  The way I do it is divide 12 by 6 then multiply it by 10 (it works as long as the denominator is ten).

Explanation:

Given : The number of grocery items of list they already have= 12

The percentage of grocery items they have now = 60%

Which can also be written as 0.60

Let x be the total grocery items in the list , then we have the following equation :-

`0.60x=12`

Divide 0.60 both sides , we get

`x=(12)/(0.6)=20`

Hence, the number of grocery items are on the list =20
