A student’s data did not support her hypothesis. What is her next step?

end the experiment and throw away the data
repeat the experiment until the hypothesis is supported
change the hypothesis
argue that the results were wrong

If a student’s data did not support her hypothesis she should "change the hypothesis" (after confirming that there weren't other variables that could have affected the result). It's important to be open minded when experimenting and not be too invested in your hypothesis when it proves to be wrong.
