Any equation with something squared in it has two solutions.

(3x + 3)² = 25

Take the square root of each side: (3x + 3) = +5
(3x + 3) = -5

Subtract 3 from each side: 3x = 2
3x = -8

Divide each side by 3 : x = 2/3
x = -8/3

solve your equation step-by-step.

(3x+3)2=25

Simplify both sides of the equation.

9x2+18x+9=25

Subtract 25 from both sides.

9x2+18x+9−25=25−25

9x2+18x−16=0

Factor left side of equation.

(3x−2)(3x+8)=0

Set factors equal to 0.

3x−2=0 or 3x+8=0

x=2/3 or x=−8/3
