The answer is D. Dante Alighieri took a total of about 12 years (1308-1320) to write "The Divine Comedy" which he finished a year before his death in 1321.

D. Dante wrote The Divine Comedy. The book follows the journey of the author through the many levels of Hell, into Purgatory, and eventually through the levels of Heaven. Dante was also one of the earliest authors to begin writing exclusively in the vernacular Italian rather than Latin.
