The coordinates of the midpoint are the arithmetic means of the respective coordinates of the endpoints.

The endpoints:
R(6,-2)
x₁=6
y₁=-2

S(x,y)
x₂=x
y₂=y

The midpoint:
M(5,3)

(6+x)/(2)=5 \\ 6+x=5 * 2\\ 6+x=10 \\ x=10-6 \\ x=4 \\ \\ (-2+y)/(2)=3 \\ -2+y=3 * 2 \\ -2+y=6 \\ y=6+2 \\ y=8

The coordinates of S are (4,8).
