vikings
were the Europeans that explored North America about 1000 A.D. It was led by Leif Erikson.

it was the Norse or the Vikings.
We even know the name that the Vikings gave to the coast of America that they explored: Vinland. Also we have a name of at least one explorer: Leif Erikson.
