To find the inverse of this function, which is equivalent to f(x)=2x+2, we simply reverse the actions - by removing the 2 and then dividing by 2.  Thus, the inverse of f(x) is (x-2)/2.  If x=6, then f(x) is 2*6+2, or 14.
