First apply the PEMDAS rule:Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Adding, Subtracting.

4² + 6 ÷ 2

4 x 4 = 16

16 + 6 ÷ 2

6 ÷ 2 = 3

16 + 3 = 19

= 19.
