The first English colonies aimed to support England's economy, therefore the Virginia Company was organized to colonize Virginia and find gold, option a, however, they could not achieve this goal and John Rolfe helped the Jamestown colony survive by teaching the colonists how to grow tobacco, option d, unfortunately for the settlers, this solution did not come in time and most of them were killed by the Native American in 1622, which is why the Virginia Company lost most of its funds and required of the royal help to survive.

"d. John Rolfe helped the Jamestown colony survive by teaching the colonists how to grow tobacco" and "a. The Virginia Company was organized to colonize Virginia and find gold" are both correct, but it was soon discovered that gold did not exist, so they switched their efforts to tobacco.
