Parathyroid gland
Location- four round massses on the posterior side of the lateral lobe of the thyroid gland. Cells- two types- chief and oxyphil cells. Releases the hormone parathyroid hormone
Thyroid Gland
located on the anterior side of the trachea just below the laynx. Bilobed gland shaped like a shield TISSUE-composed of hollow sacks called follicles, follicles contain a gelly-like glycoprotein material called Thyroglobulin- to store thyroxine Cells: two types: Folicular and parafollicular cells. Releases the hormones- thyroxine and calcitonin
Thymus Gland
Location- a bilobed gland with in the mediastinum over the base of the heart. Cells- glandular cells. Releases the hormone thymosin
