Answer:

x=4, y=-2

Explanation:

In the equation

x+2y=0

We isolate x so we just subtract 2y from both sides

x=-2y. Now we substitute that for x, in the second equation,

y-(-2y)y= 1/2(-2y)^2-2

y-( -2y^2)= 1/2(4y^2)-2

y+2y^2= 2y^2-2

y=-2

so plug that back in the first equation to solve for x.

x+2(-2)=0

x-4=0

x=4

So x=4 and y=-2
