Political parties are primarily defined in which of the following ways?

I find that the most fitting answer is d) -Political parties are defined by the issues they find important (such as economic freedom for example). It is possible that they're solely founded to support a candidate, but not all parties are, and I think that the best generalisation is an issue (see for example the Green Parties)
