3x-2y=24 leave this one for a sec and come back to it

x+2y=48 solve for x

x=48-2y now take this and put it in for x in the first equation

3(48-2y)-2y=24 distribute

144-6y-2y=24 now from combine like terms and subtract 144

-8y=-120 divide

y=15 take this and put it into the equation that is solved for x

x=48-2(15)

x= 48-30

x=18
