Adding onto AL2006's answer: it is to the east. His math was correct, just don't choose the option that says west lol

Acceleration = (change in speed) / (time for the change)

Change in speed = (42 - 35) = 7 m/s

Time for the change = 40 sec

Acceleration = (7 m/s) / (40sec) = 7/40 = 0.175 m/s²
