ratio and proportion 4/50=x/100 cross multiply 50x= 400 divide by 50 x= 8% of the states begin with the letter W hope this helps

In oder to count the percentage you have to divide the number of instances over the number of possible instances and multiply by 100% (100 % is also 1).
4/50*100%= 2/25*100%=2*4%=8 %.
So the answer is 8 %.
