If an adverb modifies a verb, generally you should place it before the verb. If there is a helping verb you can place it between the helping verb and the main verb.

It generally goes before the verb.If there is an auxilliary verb Ex to be or modal verbs, then it goes between the auxilliary and the main verb
I always get up at 6,
But with to be it's different
I am always here at 6
And with modal verbs
I can always answer the teacher's questions
