To check, just simplify the first expression:
5x - 3(2x - 4)
BODMAS: BRACKETS FIRST
5x - 6x + 12
THEN SIMPLIFY X
-x + 12
REARRANGE TO GIVE THE SECOND EXPRESSION
12 - x
