How were the beginnings of the Almoravid and Almohad empires similar? West African Civilizations

They both started in morocco, although it would be good to note that the Almohad was a caliphate while the Almoravid was a dynasty. In other words the Almohad's had religious power mostly, but at that time that stood for a lot.
