so 1/5 of 100 is 1/5 times 100=20

then he spend 1/4 on gifts
1/4 times 100=25
100-20-25=amount left=55

he has $55 left

1/5 of his money is

100* (1)/(5) = (100)/(5) =20

1/4 of his money is

100* (1)/(4) = (100)/(4) =25

25+20=45

100-45=55
