Great Britain settled and colonized numerous territories throughout the world. These territories included North America, Australia, Southern Africa, and India, among others.
Immigration was encouraged to these places due to 2 reasons:
- Political interests, as the presence of British settlers, would influence in government affairs in the mentioned zones.
- Economic interests, as these places were seen as sourcing point for a vast range of goods which were sent to Great Britain. These goods included spices and gold.
