A yardstick casts a shadow 2 ft. 3 in. long at the same time a tree casts a shadow 63 ft long. How tall is the tree, to the nearest foot?

If you make the proportion equation
(27)/(756) = (36)/(x) you can cross muliply and get 27x=27216. Then divide 27216 by 27 and you get 1008. If you turn that back into feet you get:
84ft
