in the equation you have to replace all x's with -1

f (-1) = (-1)^2 - 8(-1) +5
f (-1) = 1 + 8 + 5
f (-1) = 14

the f(-1) stand for the function of -1. it is also equivalent to y

Explanation:

Given : Function -
f(x)=x^2-8x+5

To find : The value of f(-1)

Solution : Follow the steps :

Step 1- Write the function

f(x)=x^2-8x+5

Step 2- Put x=-1 to find the value of f(-1)

f(-1)=(-1)^2-8(-1)+5

Step 3- Solve the above equation

f(-1)=1+8+5
