The Assyrian empire was a Semitic kingdom from 1200 BC to 600 BC, who spoke Akkadian language, and wrote it in cuneiform. They had a close contact with Babylonia and even conquered Egypt at one time. It stopped existing with Arabic Islamic invasion.
