Yes, 80 pairs. If you add the 8 pairs back on to 292 it will equal 300. Add a zero to that 300 and the 8, and there's your answer. 80 pairs defective.

8 out of 300 were defective.


(8)/(300)=(x)/(3000) \\ \\ 8*3000=300*x \\ \\ 24000=300x \\ \\ 80=x
