How do you treat a scorpion sting in the 1800's?

they most likely dumped
whiskey or some type of alcohal on it

didn't they have to suck it out? oh wait no that was for cactus....uh here i found this:
Often a cloth or rubber band would be tied around the sting in order to stop the venom from spreading to other parts of the body.
