Did Admiral Yamamoto make a wise decision in bombing Pearl Harbor? Why or why not?

Several historians agree that Admiral Yamamoto's decision was poor because it would have taken America much longer to join the war had Pearl Harbor not been bombed by the Japanese. America's intervention with the atomic bombs also made the turning point in the war.
