2(x+3)= 2x+6
this is the distributive property for multiplication
you distribute(multiply) the number outside the ( ) to all the terms inside the ( )

Distributive property. You distribute the 2 to the X and get 2x, then distribute the 2 and the 3. 2X3=6. This gets you 2x+6.
