Your question is : -

n² - 10n +24

we split -10 n into two numbers such that product is 24 and sum is -10n. We find the numbers be -6 and -4.

n² - 6n - 4n + 24

= n(n-6) - 4(n-6)

= (n-4)(n-6)

factors of 24 that would also add up to -10 would be -12 and 2 soo. you would factor out the n's to get:
(n-12)(n+2)
