D. Hook. It is relevant to trying to 'hook' or reel in your reader for a great catch. ;)
An example:
The creak grew louder. I whipped around and out of the corner of my eye, a shadow danced. I twisted back. I heard padding feet behind me. Desperate, I turned in circles as laughing began..... would that be captivating? Or what about:
Yesterday was ok. We went to get ice cream. I got stawberry. But it fell on the ground. Wouldn't you want to immediatly put THAT book down?
