How did the Inca overcome geographical obstacles in building and ruling their empire?

The geographical obstacles that Inca faced were mostly the steep mountains on which they lived, which were a problem for agriculture and transport and communications.
In order to boost architecture they devised terrace fields, and in order to overcome problems for communication, they made a network of good-quality roads.
