we know that

Unit Rate is the ratio of two measurements in which the second term is
1

by proportion

Find the number of miles a car drives with a gallon of gasoline

(283)/(12.3) (miles)/(gallons) =(x)/(1) (miles)/(gallon)\\ \\12.3*x=283\\ \\x=283/12.3\\ \\x=23\ miles

therefore

the unit rate is equal to
23(miles)/(gallon)

The answer is

23(miles)/(gallon)
