granite better than marble for a statue in a city, because marble reacts with acid, when Granite does not and it is one of the strongest minerals in the mohs scale therefore granite is a better solution for a city centre statue

Granite is stronger, and it doesn't grow mold in the rain. It also looks better than marble and is easier to carve.
