Stability (of ecosystem) refers to the capability of a natural system to apply self—regulating mechanisms so as to return to a steady state after an outside disturbance

The ecosystem stability is a term used to describe the capacity of natural systems to apply self-regulating mechanisms to return to an equilibrium state after an outside disturbance in the ecosystem, the diversity is important to maintain that capacity because it leads to a greater stability, since genetic variability, diversity of populations and species and the adaptation to a variaty of condictions is most likely to have a better response to disturbances in the environment (diseases, climate changes, competition, predation, and so on) that way making a ecosystem with more stability.
