The question asks us to find the mean absolute deviation ( MAD ). We know that the mean is 3. First we have to find the distance of the each value from the mean ( and ignore minus signs ). For example: 1 - 3 = | - 2 | = 2 ( absolute value ) etc. Then we have to find the mean of their distance: MAD = ( 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 1 + 2 + 3 ) / 10 = 12 : 10 = 1.2. Answer: The mean absolute deviation is A ) 1.2.
