False, the harmful toxins that come from nuclear waste can stay for many years, slowly killing animals and making the area uninhabitable.

It depends on how it is handled. If you handle the waste incorrectly, it is very harmful, but if you take care of it properly, it is safe enough (until giant godzilla rival flying ant things come out of it) lol
But yeah probably True.
