An onomatopoeia is the mimic of sounds, basically.

Example:

Boom, woof, meow, buzz.

An onomatopoeia is the word for a sound.  For example "The bee went buzz."  In the phrase, the word buzz is an onomatopoeia.  Some other words are sizzle, pop, boom, caw, plop, squish, etc.  :D I hope I helped!!
