b² + 6b - 16 = 0
b² + 8b - 2b - 16 = 0
b(b) + b(8) - 2(b) - 2(8) = 0
b(b + 8) - 2(b + 8) = 0
(b - 2)(b + 8) = 0
b - 2 = 0 or b + 8 = 0
+ 2 + 2
- 8 - 8
b = 2 b = -8
