so to factor

to factor this in ax^2+bx+c form where a is greater than 1,
b=z+y
ac=xy
solve

so a=2
b=9
c=4

9=y+z
c times a=4 times 2=8
what 2 numbers add up to 9 and mulitply to get 8?
factor 8
8=
1 times8
2 times 4
if we add them up we get
1+8=9 check
2+4=6

the numbers are 1 and 8
split up the middle term
2x^2+1x+8x+4
group
(2x^2+1x)+(8x+4)
factor out/reverse distribute
(x)(2x+1)+(4)(2x+1)
reverse distribute useing distributive proerty
ab+ac=a(b+c)
(x+4)(2x+1)

the factored form is (x+4)(2x+1)
