To what extent did the decade of the 1950s deserve its reputation as an age of political, social, and cultural conformity?

All of theses time periods in America are relative to one another, and in this way, the decade of the 1950s indeed deserves its reputation as an age of political, social, and cultural conformity when compared to the 1960s, which was a period of "counter culture"
